International Tile Competition

Animage — 16th International Animation Festival of Pernambuco is accepting submissions for 2026 and invites entries by filmmakers from around the world.

The Festival includes Competitive and Non-competitive Screenings of national and international animation films, in addition to special sessions, feature films, masterclass, exhibition and animation workshops for both beginners, children and professionals.

As part of the Animage competitive programs, trophies and prize money will be awarded in 2026. The best Feature, Short, Children’s Short and Brazilian short film will each be awarded with R$8,000.

Animage 2026’s competitive screenings categories include:

Short film – Films lasting up to 30 minutes
Children’s Short Film — Films aimed at children, with a running time of up to 40 minutes (including credits)
Student Short Film – Films with a running time of up to 30 minutes (including credits) made by students and schools
Feature Film – Films with a running time of more than 41 minutes (including credits)

The Animage Festival reaffirms its stance of understanding the animation as cultural art more than as commercial industry. The festival privileges risk, boldness, ideas, reinvention and the use of digital or crafty tools as a support for the development of critical imagination and exercise of creative freedom. It is produced by Rec-Beat Productions, sponsored by Caixa Cultural Recife, incentive by Funcultura – Government of the State of Pernambuco and support from Joaquim Nabuco Foundation, Consulate of France and Institut Français.

The event for 2026 will take place in the city of Recife, Brazil between 20th and 29th November 2026.
