travel grants

travel grants to discover Icelandic authors and writers (Iceland)
Iceland experienced a golden age of writing in the 13th and 14th centuries, when the renowned Icelandic sagas were written, and ever since that time literature has been closely identified with the self-image of the Icelandic nation. In the 19th and 20th centuries Icelandic literature flourished once more and Halldór Laxness was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1955.

The Icelandic Literature Center contributes to the promotion of Icelandic literature abroad. Authors, foreign  publishers and organizers of literary events (festivals) can apply for support for Icelandic authors traveling abroad to promote their work.

It is possible to apply for the grant up to eight weeks after the travel.

deadlines: 15 March, 15 June, 15 September and 15 November.
