Curatorial Fellowship Call

Akademie Schloss Solitude awards three 10-month curatorial fellowships for the period from September 2026 to June 2027. We are seeking individuals who work independently, are open to dialogue and culturally sensitive, and who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to collaborative processes and to working within an international artist residency.

The curatorial fellows are invited to further develop their curatorial practice independently within the context of Akademie Schloss Solitude and to explore it in exchange with the international fellows.

The Akademie provides a space in which curatorial formats can emerge at the intersections of art, science, technology, and society. Within the context of an artist residency, the Akademie understands curating as a practice of connection and mediation – one that shapes and structures processes by bringing people, artistic work, discourse, and the public into relation with one another.

The call is aimed at curators with:
– at least 3 to 5 years of independent curatorial practice
– a proven track record of realized projects
– very good command of German and English
– residence in Germany for at least two years
– an existing network in Baden-Württemberg and/or an interest in developing one

Applicants are expected to be continuously present in Stuttgart for the duration of the fellowship.

The program offers a monthly stipend of 1.300€ to cover living expenses. Participants are provided with a furnished live/work studio at Akademie Schloss Solitude. It also grants access to workshops and libraries, and fosters exchange within an international, multidisciplinary community of fellows.
