PartArt4OW Third Open Call 2026.
PartArt4OW, the EU-funded initiative that bridges art, science, and civic participation to address pressing ocean and water challenges, has opened its Third Open Call inviting visionary projects that empower communities to shape a sustainable, resilient and equitable blue economy.
This new challenge calls on artists, researchers, civic organisations, creatives and interdisciplinary teams across Europe to co-design participatory art initiatives (PAIs) that explore how societies interact with oceans, rivers and water-dependent economic systems. Proposals should combine scientific insight, artistic experimentation and active citizen involvement to generate innovative narratives, methods, and sensory experiences that illuminate often-overlooked aspects of blue economies and amplify local voices.
The call is open to a wide range of applicants, from individual creators and grassroots collectives to multi-partner consortia. Projects must involve collaboration with economic actors connected to the blue economy and demonstrate community engagement through public events that showcase artistic outcomes and raise awareness of ocean and inland water challenges. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria and align with PartArt4OW’s participatory ethos.
All artistic disciplines are welcome — from visual and literary arts to performance, digital media, and experimental forms of creative expression. Diversity and inclusivity are central: projects involving under-represented groups and communities with limited access to cultural or scientific spaces are especially encouraged to apply.
In line with the EU’s climate objectives, proposals must commit to a Climate Pact Pledge, striving for decarbonisation and sustainable project practices.
Selected initiatives will receive:
A grant of up to 50,000 EUR to deliver a six-month project (travel is an eligible cost).
Tailored mentorship, training sessions and an online bootcamp focused on participatory art processes and environmental themes.
Guidance from experts across artistic, scientific and community sectors.
Enhanced visibility through PartArt4OW communication platforms and connection to a pan-European ecosystem of collaborators.
Peer-learning and networking opportunities.
