Msgr. Otto Mauer Prize 2026
In continuation of the concerns of Msgr. Otto Mauer (1907–1973), who set international standards with his commitment to contemporary art and the promotion of young artists, will award the Otto Mauer Fund the 46th anniversary at the end of the year. Msgr. Otto Mauer Prize for Austrian Fine Arts (painting, graphics, sculpture, object art, installation and new media). The prize recognizes a complete work that combines artistic and social discourse in an innovative way.
The award includes a prize money of € 15,000, an exhibition in the Jesuit Foyer (1010 Vienna) and extensive press and public relations work.
In the interest of the continuation of the Otto Mauer Collection in the Cathedral Museum Vienna, the Otto Mauer Fund intends to acquire a representative work of the awardee.
Submission:
In the period from 5. – 7. October 2026 it is possible to submit applications for the prize, which is intended to be a recognition for the complete work created so far. Artists with Austrian citizenship or have been able to apply for a permanent residence in Austria for at least five years.
The maximum age is 45 years (birth year 1981 and younger, i.e. Applicants may participate in 31. December 2026 the 46th. have not yet reached the age of life). If several artists apply together as a group, this age limit applies to each member.
A documentation is to be submitted that enables an assessment of the previous artistic work (catalogs, photos, texts, videos; no originals) as well as a CV and 1-3 web links.
These documents are with name, address, telephone number, date of birth and the inscription “Msgr. Otto Mauer-Preis 2026” to be awarded and from 5.-7. October 2026 in the period from 10 – 13 and 15 – 18 clock or send by post, whereby these shipments at the latest on Wednesday, the 7th. October 2026 must be received.
Each application is made to the exclusion of legal recourse.
The Otto Mauer Fund assumes no liability for the documents submitted. These form the basis for the jury’s assessment.
If no work appears to be worthy of the prize, no prize shall be awarded.
