Carmen Mateu Young Artist European Award
Opera Composers Call
The Carmen Mateu Young Artist European Award, Opera and Dance, convened by the Castell de Peralada Private Foundation, was created in memory of Carmen Mateu, and celebrates the careers of young artists in the disciplines of Opera and Dance. It also contributes to the development of their careers and promotes both disciplines in the European sphere.
Based on the spirit of the Peralada Festival, promoted by Carmen Mateu in 1987, and with the same objective, the Carmen Mateu Young Artist European Award, Opera and Dance is established with the vocation of being a leader and cultural reference in supporting creation in these areas.
A prize is awarded in one of the two categories – opera and dance – in alternate years. In 2021, the Award is open to composers working in opera.

The opera will premiere at the 2023 edition of the Festival Castell de Peralada in Spain, and, post-programming, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona and the Teatro Real in Madrid, as co-producers of the work.
