Degussa Goldhandel together with Monopol – Magazine for Art and Life is proclaiming an international art prize. The Young Generation Art Award is aimed at emerging artists at the beginning of their careers. The aim of the Art Prize is to accompany promising artists on their way to the art world, to support talents and thus to inform the public about the current art creation. Five artists are nominated for the shortlist of the prize, presented in the Monopol-Kunstmagazin and invited to an exhibition. From this shortlist of five international artists, an expert jury chooses the prize winner.

Conditions of Participation:
Artists up to the completed 35 are eligible to participate. Year of life (deadline 30. May 2026) from the fields of fine arts and photography, video, media and installation art.
No academic training is required as mandatory.
By registering, the participants agree to the terms of the tender.

Application documents:
A meaningful digital artist portfolio (as a pdf with max. 8 MB). The works presented in the portfolio must be available for the most part for a possible exhibition.
In addition, a short biography related to the artistic history with indication of the current contact details and an artist statement must be included.
Prizes:
a) Degussa Goldhandel awards the “Young Generation Art Award” with a prize money of 10,000 euros. In addition, the award winner will receive an international travelling exhibition.
b) The selected shortlist artists:innen (except award winner) receive a shortlist exhibition fee of 3. 000 euros.
Shortlist selection:
– Elke Buhr (Editor-in-Chief Monopol – Kunstmagazin)
– Maya Heckelmann (Art historian, Cultural and Social Engagement, Degussa) from the submitted applications five artists for the shortlist.
Their works (5 selected artworks per artist:in) are presented to the audience in a joint shortlist exhibition, which is carried out on behalf of Degussa Goldhandel.
Exhibition:
The exhibition will take place under the artistic direction of Maya Heckelmann (Cultural and Social Engagement, Degussa) in autumn 2026. All artworks included in the exhibition must be available throughout the entire term and cannot be picked up early. The artworks included in the exhibition are insured by the organizer for the duration of the art exhibition.
Each artist who is in for the exhibition, receives, if necessary for the exhibition, a production fee of 500 euros.
The award ceremony will take place as part of a public award ceremony, in which all artists selected for the shortlist will take part.
Jury:
a) Every artist submits to a jury. All selected works remain at the exhibition venue during the exhibition period and are available to the organizer for exhibition purposes.
b) The artist:in is not entitled to an opposition right against the decision of the jury. In particular, the legal recourse against the decision of the jury is excluded.
Hanging Commission:
The hanging commission for the exhibition is subject to the exhibition management Maya Heckelmann.
Insurance:
At his expense, the organizer has taken out an all-risk insurance, which includes the exhibition venue. The organizer undertakes to maintain it for the time of the exhibition.
Sale:
a) No sale of the artworks can take place before the announcement of the prize winner in February 2027. On request, a work of art can be reserved and a sale can take place after the announcement of the winner. The awarder has a right of pre-emption.
b) The invoicing and delivery of the sold works of art is the responsibility of the artist exclusively at his own account and risk. Delivery or billing by the exhibitor is not possible.
c) If a work of art is exceptionally unsaleable, this must be expressly noted.
d) For each work, the sale price (if applicable with frames and accessories) or the value must be indicated. The sales prices must include VAT if the artist is subject to the VAT obligation. After the acceptance of a work, a change in the price of the sale is no longer possible.
Place of performance and jurisdiction:
The place of performance for all obligations relating to the art exhibition and the sale of exhibited works of art is Frankfurt am Main. The place of jurisdiction for any disputes is Frankfurt am Main.
Duplication:
The organizer is entitled to use recordings of the artworks for press and public relations free of charge.
Final provisions:
By submitting his registration at the time of the issue, the applicant unconditionally agrees to all the above conditions and the processing of personal data. The personal data of the applicant will be stored exclusively for the processing of the “Young Generation Art Award” and will not be passed on to third parties, unless the transfer to exhibition or Sales purposes are necessary. The place of jurisdiction is Frankfurt am Main – insofar as a jurisdiction agreement is not excluded by law.
