‘INHABIT’ AIR Frankfurt

Max Planck Institute
‘INHABIT’ Artist Residencies

The Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics, an institute that centers around the creation and variance of what is deemed aesthetically pleasing, is opening its facilities and resources for a set of three new artist residencies. For this residency project, titled ‘INHABIT’, the Institute aims to create a partnership between scientists and varied discipline artists. The residency hopes to be a symbiotic relationship between science and art in yielding a mutually productive encounter.

The ‘INHABIT’ residency, based in Frankfurt, will take place over three months in 2021 allowing the development of new work as a result of the bridge between researchers and artists. The work created will then be presented in the forms of exhibitions, performances, concerts or other formats with local institutions in a discursive way, for the furthering of dialogue between these two fields. Past artist residents include composer Alexander Tillegreen, multimedia artist Lea Letzel and sound artist Pedro Oliveira.

‘INHABIT’ offers artist and accommodation fees as well as a production budget, and covers transportation costs in addition to providing support in the forms of materials and resources as well as personal collaboration opportunities through the Max Planck Institute. To apply, artists are asked to send in a CV, portfolio, availability and description of proposed work to accomplish during their time at the Institute.
