The project room open call for our next Programme taking place from October 2026. The project room aims to support ideas which are experimental and push your creative practice further or in a new direction.
Your written proposal should clearly outline an idea/ project/ exhibition which is mindful of this and should be supported by previous examples of work that relates to your proposal. Within your proposal you should briefly describe your relationship to Glasgow and the creative community of the city. This might be a recent, sporadic, or a long established connection – or it might be a relationship you would like to initiate with this proposal.
Artists are given use of the gallery space for two weeks and left to their own devices. The project room has no direct funding, therefore artists and curators are expected to fund their own shows. Previous artists who have shown with us have been funded by Creative Scotland, Elephant Trust, and Hope Scott Trust.
The project room started in 1997 as a space within Glasgow Independent Studio where studio members and non-members could try out new work. It is now on the 1st floor of Trongate103 but continues to be funded and run by members and associates of the studio.
