Glasgow Ceramics Residency Call

Glasgow Ceramics Studio is excited to announce its ‘Mid-Career International Ceramics Residency 2026’. This residency is aimed at those with previous experience with ceramics who wish to have a period of time to focus on their individual practices, conduct
research, experiment, and exchange with fellow artists and designers.

Who We Are
Glasgow Ceramics Studio is a not-for-profit run space, which provides studio spaces,
memberships and access to kilns for local artists. You can find more information about our studio here: https://glasgowceramicstudio.com/.

Glasgow is a vibrant city, with many galleries, museums and events taking place. It is also possible to easily travel via bus, train or car to other parts of Scotland including Edinburgh and the Highlands. We would encourage our participating artist to spend time in different parts of the country, where desired or as part of their practice.

The residency will run for 3 months from June until August 2026 and offers the following:

● Honorarium of £1,500
This can be used towards costs of flights, accommodation, materials or firings.
Materials can be purchased with this honorarium before you arrive so that they are available to you from your first day. You can apply individually to other funding bodies for additional funding, and for this we can provide a letter of support.

● Access to the workshops and facilities The residency offers a free studio space, sharing a warm open plan studio .
Additionally, you will have access to a range of electric and gas kilns, a glaze room, drying room, 8 electric wheels, a plaster area, lathe, slab roller and a large hand-building table. There is an expectation for residents to have experience or prior knowledge of ceramics, as Glasgow Ceramic Studio does not have technicians employed.

● Meeting other people
This will include studio members, interns, and regular workshops users.

● Opportunity for exhibition.
This can be facilitated within our building or another exhibition space in the city, depending on availability and exhibition needs.

● Opportunity to take part in an event, sharing skills and practice.
We are keen to host sharing events at Glasgow Ceramic Studio. For our summer Artist in Residence this event will take place halfway through your residency. This could be but is not exclusive to a workshop, a talk, or a sharing of works in progress.

Eligibility/Who Can Apply?
The residency is aimed at mid-career artists – artists with five years of established practice are preferred but this is not essential. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to their practice and a desire to furthering the field of ceramic art. We are interested in knowing what you could contribute to expanding the discourse and knowledge of ceramics in Scotland.

deadline: January 10th 2026.
