Call for Land·Ecological Art on Eulsukdo, Busan, Korea

Open Call for Land·Ecological Art on Eulsukdo, Busan:
‘We Pass, the Earth Endures’

The Busan Metropolitan City Government announces an International Open Call for works of land and ecological art that respond to the land, ecology, history, and passage of time on Eulsukdo Island.

Located at the mouth of the Nakdong River, Eulsukdo is a brackish estuary where river and sea meet, and an important ecological hub for countless migratory birds travelling along the East Asian–Australasian Flyway. Having undergone periods of use as farmland and landfill, as well as urban development, the island has since been restored as a wetland and migratory bird habitat. It is also a place that invites us to reflect on the coexistence of human and more-than-human life.
We seek site-specific art that does not merely use nature as a backdrop, but engages deeply with the site, forges new connections between nature and the public, and responds to changes in time and the environment.
