Call for tenders Dr. Dormagen Guffanti Scholarship 2027.
In order to create a participation opportunity for and/or for people with disabilities from an artistic point of view, the Foundation’s Board of Trustees annually awards the Dr. Dormagen-Guffanti Scholarship to visual artists. The equal participation of people with and without disabilities in society is the guiding principle of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was adopted in 2008. About 150 years ago, the founder, Dr. Hubert Dormagen, his assets donated for the purpose of disability care in Cologne.
The call for proposals is aimed at artists who have their work and residence in the Federal Republic of Germany. The scholarship can only be awarded to an artist once.
For the year 2027, artists of the “Drawing/Graphic” division can apply. The scholarship is endowed with 10,000 euros. The application deadline is 31. August 2026. The scholarship runs for six months, from April to September 2027. The application is intended to make the artistic idea for working with the residents clear in terms of content and structure. In addition to the residents of the severely disabled residence, members of the other initiatives that are based on the site can also be addressed. These include the Treberhilfe, Aids hilfe and the Deaf. V.. The goal is in artistic work free of educational or therapeutic intervention.
For the time of the scholarship, the foundation provides on the premises of the Municipal Centre for the Disabled Dr. Dormagen-Guffanti a studio room available free of charge. During this time, the Atelier Raum and the grounds represent the spatial center of the artistic work of the scholarship holder. The presence there is mandatory.
At the end of the scholarship, a final exhibition of the resulting works will take place in the studio. The Foundation shall bear the costs of the exhibition after consultation with the scholarship holder*.
The scholarship is endowed with a total of 10,000 euros, 1,500 euros per month for six months, as well as a one-time material cost subsidy of 1,000 euros. For accommodation or travel costs, a subsidy of up to a maximum amount of 500 euros per month can be paid for six months.

The facility is located in Longerich, Municipal Centre for the Disabled Dr. Dormagen-Guffanti, Lachemer Weg 22, 50737 Cologne. This date offers the opportunity to get an insight into the studio and the work in the institution from the current scholarship holder Bine Schwarz.
