CIRCA art actuel is an artist-run centre that supports experimentation and innovation. Its mission? To showcase the work of contemporary artists of all generations who place the sculptural object at the heart of their artistic practice.
The Centre supports projects that are both rooted in traditional sculpture practices and those that develop hybrid sculptural and installation forms, arising from contact with other media such as drawing, printmaking, photography, digital media, or painting. All of this reflects a firm commitment to supporting and developing sculptural and installation practices, in a spirit of openness and renewal.
CIRCA art actuel exhibitions are selected by the programming committee, composed of active members, board members, the director, and a guest member. The programming aims to represent a variety of generations and backgrounds, and an equitable number of male and female artists (while also considering gender identities). We highly value diversity and Indigenous perspectives, and we encourage artists and curators who identify with these communities to submit an application
