El Brocense Art Prize.
The Provincial Council of Cáceres, through the Area of Culture and Sports, reopens the call of the Plastic Arts Award “Sala El Brocense”, which reaches this year its twenty-ninth edition become one of the most consolidated and recognized events of the national artistic calendar.

Over the course of almost three decades, this contest has brought together hundreds of artists from different parts of the country and abroad in Cáceres, becoming a privileged showcase to know some of the most interesting proposals of contemporary creation today.

But the Sala El Brocense Prize is much more than an artistic call. Each edition contributes to enrich the cultural heritage of the province by incorporating the award-winning works into the contemporary art collection of the Provincial Council of Cáceres, a fund that today constitutes one of the most outstanding public collections in Spain in this field.

The 2026 edition maintains one of the most important economic endowments within this type of contests, with a total of 25,000 euros distributed in five prizes:

First Prize: 10,000 €
Second Prize: €6,000
Third Prize: 4,000 €
Two Quarter Prizes: €2,500 each

The award-winning works will become part of the artistic funds of the Provincial Council of Cáceres, expanding a collection that brings together some of the most representative voices of contemporary art of the last decades.

A call open to all disciplines
The contest is aimed at artists over 18 years of age, regardless of their nationality or place of residence, who may present a maximum of two original works not previously awarded.

The theme is free and the call maintains its vocation of openness to the different languages of contemporary creation, welcoming proposals ranging from painting or sculpture to photography, installation, video or mixed techniques.

The works must be presented in definitive material, with a maximum dimension of 150 centimeters on their larger side and a weight not exceeding 100 kilograms. In the case of audiovisual pieces, the maximum duration will be ten minutes.

Applications must include the technical documentation of the works, a brief explanatory report, curriculum and artistic dossier.
