Montréal Calling for submissions

Occurrence, Contemporary Art and test space,  invites artists to submit projects for its programming schedule from November 2026 to June 2028.

The center is looking for proposals covering all fields, whether exhibition projects or video projections. Occurrence wants to have a diverse program that reflects current thinking about the arts.

Precisions:

The center is looking for proposals covering all horizons, whether exhibition projects or video projections. Occurrence wishes to have a diverse program that reflects current thinking on the arts.
Submissions are evaluated by a peer committee that is renewed each year.

The call is open to artists of all ages and levels of experience.
Occurrence encourages artists to self-identify if they are immigrants, members of visible and/or invisible minorities, Indigenous, or have a disability.

The center has two exhibition rooms.

Each selected proposal will be presented in one of the two rooms. If the artist is chosen for a solo exhibition, they must adapt their project to both rooms.
“Duos” are projects presented in the same exhibition space, and the pairing of these projects is at the discretion of the selection committee members.
Each exhibition project is remunerated according to the rates recommended by CARFAC.

Your submission :

An artist biography (100 words)
An artist statement (250 words)
A project description (1 page)
A resume (max. 3 pages)
a maximum of 10 numbered images
A link to video clips, if applicable (8 min max). Ensure that the video link can be accessed at any time without requiring authorization.
A detailed descriptive list of your visual documents (title, year of production, material(s), etc.)

IMPORTANT:Please identify your file using the following naming convention: Last name_First name_Occurrence

Please send your application in PDF format via Swisstransfer. It’s important to select the EMAIL option before sending your file to info@occurrence.ca.

Any applications that do not meet the above criteria will not be considered.
